An 88-year-old man who had been reported missing was discovered by Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies and subsequently airlifted to UPMC Hamot in Erie following a tractor accident that led him into a ravine.
At approximately 8:51 p.m. on Friday, the Chautauqua County Office received a report about the missing elderly man at 9811 E. Side Hill Rd. Responding to the call, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deployed K-9 Bentley into the wooded area surrounding the reported location.
After a search covering approximately one mile, K-9 Bentley successfully located the missing man. It was determined that the man had crashed his tractor into a deep ravine adjacent to the power line road at around 11 a.m. Deputies managed to access the ravine and safely extract him, after which he was attended to by Ripley Fire Department personnel for his injuries. The county EMS also provided valuable assistance during the incident.
